“The whole is more than the sum of its parts.”
Said by Aristotle in his “Metaphysics”
Translated in to “Holism” centuries back
Stands true today too in all its characteristics
Modern medicine ignored that aphorism,
Disease is not merely interaction of cells and enzymes
Not affection of an organ or a system
Rather orchestra with ruffled rhyme
To provide “greatest good to greatest number”
Not statistical, but the individualized solutions
Interdependence exists from cellular to social levels
Consider diverse factors and their attributions
How can one ignore, the psychoneurobioloy
Influence of mind-body dualism
One-step process, targeting disease is not enough
Rather caring for the patient as a whole, “the holism”
The “nature” provides innate capacity to heal
The “cure is a myth,” the real approach is to heal
The drugs, diet, and lifestyle modifications do help
The varied experiences reveal
No system is perfect, where multiple factors play
Look for alternatives which can complement
Times tested Indian system, Ayurveda and Yoga
May be integrated for adequate and effective treatment
